Anxiety Therapy in Connecticut

Do you feel like you’re supposed to have it all figured out—but you're barely holding it together?

Are you stuck in a loop of overthinking, worst-case scenarios, or sleepless nights?

Do you replay conversations in your head, worry you said the wrong thing, or feel like you're constantly falling short, even when you're doing your best?

Are you exhausted from trying to be the perfect student, employee, partner, or friend while quietly falling apart inside?

You’re not the only person struggling with this.

Anxiety often hides in plain sight. It can look like racing thoughts, people-pleasing, a tight chest, restlessness, or the pressure to always be “on.” Perfectionism might push you to work harder, be nicer, look happier, but it comes at the cost of your peace. Therapy is a space where we can make sense of the pressure you’ve been living under and help you find a more sustainable way forward.

Let’s figure this out together, one step at a time.

How Anxiety Affects Your Mind, Body, and Mood

Anxiety doesn’t always look like panic attacks. It often sneaks into your life in quieter, chronic ways, especially during this period when you’re figuring out who you are and where you fit. You might notice…

  • Racing thoughts or constant worry about your future, relationships, or making the “right” choices

  • Difficulty sleeping or staying asleep because your mind won’t switch off

  • Tension in your chest, jaw, or stomach from carrying so much pressure to perform

  • Feeling irritable, restless, or overwhelmed by all the expectations on your shoulders

  • Avoiding social situations or overcommitting to feel like you’re in control

  • A critical inner voice that never seems to let up, telling you you’re not enough or not doing enough

Anxiety affects your thoughts, your body, and your relationships. It can leave you stuck when making decisions, emotionally shut down, or constantly on edge, even during everyday tasks.

These responses often develop for a reason. Anxiety may have helped you stay safe, survive tough experiences, or push yourself to succeed. It might stem from ongoing stress, unresolved trauma, or the perfectionism that tells you you have to be flawless just to be accepted.

In therapy, we’ll explore how anxiety shows up uniquely for you in this stage of life so you can respond with more awareness, compassion, and choice.

You’re Not the Only One Feeling This Way

You’re not the only one who lies awake at night, overthinking every decision, worried about making the “right” choice or measuring up to expectations. You might feel like you’re barely holding it together even when everything looks perfect on the outside. Anxiety can be exhausting and isolating, especially when paired with the pressure to achieve and the voice inside pushing you to be flawless.

Your brain is doing what it was designed to do—protect you. Anxiety is a signal that your nervous system is on high alert, often because of past experiences or ongoing pressures to perform. It’s not a sign of weakness. It’s your body’s way of trying to keep you safe. Therapy can help you understand those patterns, soften the grip of perfectionism and self-criticism, and begin building a felt sense of safety and self compassion.

Healing doesn’t have to happen in isolation.

Untangle Anxiety with Therapy and Finally Feel at Ease

When anxiety takes over, even the smallest tasks can feel overwhelming! You might second-guess your decisions, feel constantly tense, or find yourself spiraling into what-ifs late at night. It’s exhausting to live in a body and mind that won’t let you rest.

In therapy, there is space here for you to exhale. Anxiety therapy gives you a space to slow down, explore what’s happening underneath the symptoms, and learn new ways to care for your nervous system. Together, we’ll make sense of the thoughts, emotions, and patterns that are keeping you stuck in fear or self-doubt.

What to Expect within Therapy Sessions

During the first session, we’ll talk through what anxiety looks like for you. That may mean racing thoughts, physical tension, people-pleasing, overthinking, or a need to control everything around you. We’ll set meaningful goals and identify small, doable steps that help you feel more grounded and in control.

Treatment plans are collaborative and are tailored to your own needs based on evidence-based approaches to help you overcome anxiety. Here are a few examples of techniques I find helpful with clients.

Bowenian Therapy to create a genogram to track generational patterns of anxiety

Solution-Focused Therapy to help you tap into your strengths and build practical tools for managing anxiety

Narrative Therapy to gently examine the stories you tell yourself about your worries and fears. Explore how you might rewrite those stories to feel more empowered.

You don’t have to stay stuck in survival mode. With therapy, anxiety symptoms can shift and you can finally feel more calm, connected, and in control of your life.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Anxiety can look different for everyone. Some people feel constant worry or dread, others experience physical symptoms like racing heart, tension, or trouble sleeping. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in overthinking, or like you can’t relax—even when things are “fine”—therapy can help you explore what’s going on and how to find relief, whether or not you’ve been formally diagnosed.

  • The goal isn’t to eliminate anxiety completely—anxiety is a natural part of being human. But therapy can help you understand it, reduce its intensity, and shift your relationship to it so it no longer runs your life. Over time most people feel more grounded, less reactive, and more in control of their choices and emotions.

  • That’s completely normal. Many people feel nervous before reaching out—it takes courage to be vulnerable and invest in yourself. We’ll go at your pace, and you’re welcome to bring your fears and questions into our first session. You don’t have to show up as anything other than yourself.
