Trauma Intensives

Weekly therapy can be powerful, but it’s not the right pace for everyone. Some people need more time, more space, and more depth to move through trauma. If you're craving relief now, a trauma intensive might be what helps you finally shift. Brainspotting Intensives offer a powerful, immersive experience designed to help you process trauma, anxiety, and emotional blocks more efficiently than weekly therapy alone. For people who are ready for meaningful change now, intensives give you the time, space, and uninterrupted support to go further.

What is a Brainspotting Intensive?

A Brainspotting Intensive is an extended therapeutic session (ranging from three hours to multiple days) using the Brainspotting modality as the primary tool for healing. Instead of working in short bursts week after week, we take a more concentrated approach, allowing your brain and nervous system to stay deeply engaged in the trauma-processing window.

Clients choose intensives when they feel:
Stuck in long-term weekly therapy and want to go deeper
Ready for a breakthrough or major shift
Curious whether Brainspotting could move things faster
Pressed for time and unable to commit to weekly scheduling
Motivated to change now, not later

You’re not starting from scratch each week. You’re staying in the healing.

What Makes This Different from Weekly Therapy?

Brainspotting Intensives offer a level of depth, continuity, and immersion that isn’t always possible in a traditional 50-minute weekly session. Instead of pausing right as you’re finally opening up, an intensive gives you the space to stay with what’s coming up, long enough for your brain and body to move through processing without interruption. This uninterrupted time lets us drop into deeper layers of trauma, emotional stuck points, and long-held patterns at a pace that matches your nervous system rather than the clock. Because there’s no need to “catch up” each week or rebuild momentum, the work can unfold more organically and efficiently. Many clients find that a single intensive creates the kind of shift that might take weeks or months to access in standard therapy. Intensives aren’t about working harder; they’re about creating the right conditions for your brain’s natural healing process to take center stage. Intensives are also offered on the weekends, expediting your healing journey without disrupting your work schedule.

Brainspotting Intensives: What to Expect

Black Woman Smiling and Looking at the City
  • Every trauma intensive begins with a free 15-minute consultation, offered via secure video session. This is a relaxed, no-pressure space for us to get to know each other, explore what’s bringing you in, and discuss whether a Brainspotting intensive might be the right path for you.

We’ll talk about how you’re feeling, what patterns or symptoms have been showing up, and where you’re hoping to see change. You’re welcome to ask anything about my approach, what to expect, or how this process works.

My goal is to help you feel informed and supported, even if we decide not to move forward together. If it turns out a Brainspotting intensive isn’t the best fit, I’ll offer referrals to other trusted providers in my network who may better meet your needs.

If it does feel like a good fit, I’ll guide you through the next steps, including scheduling your sessions, reviewing the consent process, and getting everything set up for your personalized healing experience.

  • Once you decide to move forward with a Brainspotting intensive, we’ll schedule a 90-minute pre-intensive session. This is where we lay the foundation for our work together: building trust, clarity, and a roadmap tailored specifically to your healing goals.

Before our session, you’ll get access to a secure client portal where you can complete a series of thoughtfully designed questionnaires. These forms help me learn more about you (your history, symptoms, and hopes) so we can make the most of our time together.

During this meeting, we’ll go far beyond basic intake. We’ll take a deep dive into the heart of what’s brought you here:

    • Assessing your symptoms and current distress – Together, we’ll explore the emotional, physical, and relational symptoms you’re experiencing, how they’re affecting your daily life, and what severity they hold right now.

    • Clarifying your therapeutic goals – This is your space to dream big. We’ll uncover not just what you want relief from, but what you want to move toward: deeper relationships, calm, joy, confidence, creativity. Whatever healing looks like for you.

    • Creating a thorough trauma timeline – We’ll walk through your life chronologically, identifying disturbing or traumatic experiences from childhood through the present day. This timeline gives us crucial context for understanding what needs processing and why.

    • Identifying negative self-beliefs – We’ll surface the beliefs that trauma has etched into your identity, such as “I’m not safe,” “I’m too much,” or “I don’t matter”, so we can target them directly in our Brainspotting work.

    • Exploring your positive internal and external resources – Healing isn’t just about what’s broken. It’s also about what supports you. We’ll identify the people, practices, places, and internal qualities that help you feel grounded and whole: spirituality, nature, ancestors, mentors, creativity, and more.

    • Naming your desired emotional states – What are the feelings you want more of? Hope, peace, clarity, connection, safety, vitality: we’ll get clear on the emotional experiences you’re working toward.

    • Assessing your strengths – You are not your trauma. We’ll highlight your resilience, wisdom, and coping skills, so we can call on those strengths when things get hard.

    • Tailoring your treatment plan – Based on everything we uncover, I’ll create a customized, measurable treatment plan designed specifically for your Brainspotting intensive. This plan will guide our work and help us stay focused on what matters most to you.

By the end of this session, you’ll have a clear sense of direction and a sense of safety and readiness, for the transformative work ahead. You’ll leave feeling seen, supported, and empowered to step into the next phase of your healing.

  • This is the heart of the experience. Intensives are offered in 3-hour sessions, with 1-3 day options.

The Brainspotting Intensive – Clearing Trauma and Expanding Into Possibility

Our intensive work is divided into two powerful phases: Clearing and Expansion. Each phase honors your brain’s natural healing intelligence, guiding you through the deep release of trauma and into a fuller, more vibrant connection with your self.

Step One: Clear Your Trauma(s) and Negative Beliefs About Yourself

In this phase, we’ll gently but powerfully begin to process the trauma and limiting beliefs that have kept you stuck.

    • You’ll work one-on-one with a trauma-informed Brainspotting therapist (that’s me!) in a focused, supportive environment. This is your space to explore painful experiences, overwhelming memories, and patterns of distress at a nervous system level.

    • Through Brainspotting, we regulate the brain at its deepest levels, helping you shift out of survival mode and into healing. This isn’t just about talking, it’s about experiencing deep, embodied release.

    • We’ll identify and process negative core beliefs you may have carried for years, for example “I’m unlovable,” “I’m broken,” or “I’m not enough.” These beliefs often stem from trauma and live in the body, not just the mind. Brainspotting allows us to clear them at the source.

This phase can feel emotional and intense, but also profoundly liberating. It’s about finally giving your brain and body the space to metabolize what you’ve been holding for far too long.

Step Two: Expansion Brainspotting – Reclaim and Grow Into Your Full Self

Once we’ve created space by releasing the pain of the past, we turn toward growth, integration, and expansion. This is where the real magic begins.

    • We focus on reclaiming lost or disowned parts of yourself: the joyful, creative, confident, curious aspects that trauma may have buried.

    • You’ll strengthen positive beliefs like “I am safe,” “I matter,” and “I am allowed to take up space.”

    • We connect with the truth of your inherent goodness, using Brainspotting to access and reinforce your wholeness, not just as a concept, but as a felt experience in your body.

    • Together, we expand desired states of being (like joy, peace, stillness, love, and connection) by anchoring them in your nervous system through Brainspotting.

    • You’ll learn how to cultivate self-love and self-compassion, not just as ideas, but as internal realities you can return to again and again.

This expansion phase helps you integrate your healing, restore your sense of identity, and reconnect with the life you want to create.

  • The Post-Intensive Meeting is a dedicated 90-minute session held one to two weeks after your Brainspotting intensive. This meeting allows us to slow down, reflect, and make sense of everything that emerged during the deeper work.

    During this session, we will:

    • Review your experience of the intensive: what came up, what shifted, and what continues to unfold in the days afterward.

    • Assess your current symptoms and emotional state, comparing them to where you were before the intensive.

    • Discuss any ongoing processing, including dreams, emotional waves, new insights, or changes in relationships and daily functioning.

    • Integrate the work into your nervous system, reinforcing the gains you made and supporting continued regulation.

    • Clarify the meaning of what you experienced, helping you understand how the pieces fit together and what your healing is pointing you toward next.

    • Update goals and create an aftercare plan, whether that includes continued therapy with me, a return to your primary therapist, ongoing Brainspotting, or self-guided practices.

    • Identify new strengths and resources that emerged from your work, anchoring them so they stay accessible.

This session brings closure and clarity to your intensive while ensuring you feel supported, grounded, and empowered as you step forward.

  • Absolutely. Brainspotting Intensives can complement ongoing therapy beautifully. We can collaborate with your current therapist (with your consent) to ensure continuity of care, or you can use the intensive as a focused deep-dive while continuing weekly sessions on your own schedule.

  • The number of days depends on your goals, the depth of processing you want, and how much time your nervous system needs to safely integrate the work. During the consultation, we’ll discuss your situation and help you choose the option that best fits your needs, whether it’s a focused one-day session or a multi-day experience for deeper exploration.

  • The pre-intensive session helps us create a clear roadmap, identify goals, establish coping strategies, and prepare your nervous system for deep work. The post-intensive session allows time to reflect on your experience, integrate what emerged, and plan next steps, ensuring the benefits of the intensive continue well beyond the sessions themselves.

  • Preparation helps you get the most out of your intensive session. Here are some tips:

    • Eat well beforehand but avoid heavy meals immediately prior to the session. Light, nourishing snacks are ideal to have during the mid-break.

    • Dress comfortably in layers so you can move or adjust if needed.

    • Choose a clear, well-lit space when participating virtually, free from distractions.

    • Stay hydrated: drink plenty of water before and during breaks.

    • Prioritize rest the night before. A well-rested nervous system is better able to engage and process the work.

    • Plan downtime afterward, if possible, to integrate the experience.

  • Many clients notice shifts during the intensive itself, often feeling lighter, calmer, or more grounded immediately afterward. Others experience a gradual integration over the following days or weeks as their nervous system continues to process the work. Everyone’s experience is unique, but the intensive structure (combined with pre- and post-sessions) maximizes the potential for both immediate and lasting results.
